Nice easy way to start the new year, and some good writing, too, considering we have the likes of Proulx, McMurtry, Stephen Crane, Leonard, and a few potboiler classics guys like Max Brand and Luke Short. Peter Glassman did a good editing job to gather this group so it wasn’t just a lot of L’Amour-level (though Louis is in there) pulp fiction. Annie Proulx’s is grizzly and funny at the same time. A couple of other female authors I hadn’t heard of, but nice that women like to write this stuff sometimes.

Including some non-fiction pieces, like the one on the life of the rodeo cowboy helped round things out.
